Lets Talk Jeans (boys edition)

Oh jean! Can we imagine our life without a pair? I remember those times when there was only one type of jean and nobody even dreamt about stretch. But now days we have so many different styles, different grades of stretch and different washes. I will talk about it in one of the posts, but today I want to to make about our other halves.

This passed Sunday I went into adventure on finding a perfect pair of jeans for my husband. Men are so different from us girls in what is about shopping and dressing. My husband takes his time, he loves accesorising and follows current trends but during our jeans talk his opinion was: ” it is a jean whatever will work” . Yes he wanted a nice wash that would speak to him but we would’ve spend less time trying different fits in store if he would’ve red this post before our shopping trip.

Lets start with the most flattering, in my opinion, for all body types.

SLIM FIT

Slim fit, in my opinion, is the most flattering for all body types. It is straight and creates a nice line. looks dressy and doesn’t kill blood flow. Some of them come skinnier than others. Many come with stretch fabric (almost all brands have them). Some designers make them with an optional tapered leg. It means that the leg opening in the bottom is smaller than the rest of the leg. Tapered look better with no socks look. While the regular slim fit is the closest to the dress pants. If you are looking to have just one or 2 pairs of jeans and be able to use it any day at almost any occasion this is the jean you are looking for.

SKINNY FIT

Skinny fit works better for slimmer types of body however doesn’t look bad on young guys who a on a little heavier side. They usually come in stretch fabrics and hug the leg. Please, don’t confuse them with same name for women. If I had to compare I would say these are more like  our leggings. The leg closes more on the bottom and they are made to fit as glove. Again, every designer has their own way of making them so you will find them wider or even skinnier, but in general this is what they are. Call them leg gloves.

STRAIGHT or RELAXED FIT

Well, they exist and I have to mention them so you can prevent your guy from getting them. Unless he needs them for work with the roofing, construction, plumbing or at the farm. They are the very first jeans that existed. They are not stretch (some of them might be but no need in it) they are wide. they are jeans that your grandpa uses. Don’t get me wrong, I  think they are very useful as they are wide and strong. They feel cosy as pj but protect and dress at the same time. They are good for construction workers as they easily go over the boots and are wide enough to make any type of moves without restrictions. But this is about fashion, so lets educate our guys.

IF your guy is very skinny and tall and athletic he might use this type of jean and don’t look that bad. however it always will be a very casual look. If he insists in using them ask him to pair it with a tight t-shirt.

I notices that some guys on a heavier side think that using this type of jean will hide those extra pounds. NO they don’t, even worst, they add, they will make you look bigger then you actually are.

In conclusion, nobody should wear them except for above mentioned works.
