Healthy New brunch at Yard House

It is not a Sunday without a proper brunch. Let’s be honest, if you are a restaurant owner and don’t have brunch on Sundays then just take the day off and don’t open, at least not in the morning. Because who wants a regular dish on Sunday right?
I was extremely happy to learn that one of my favorite places decided to add Sunday brunch to their menu.
Yard House has been in my life since even before it was open. I saw it being built. And do I have to say it became one of my favorites right away? It was not for their world famous collection of beers, I personally don’t like beer (yes, I know one in a million…) however they do have a beer to my taste, which is sweet and with a berry taste, but I fell in love with this place because they have all that I look for in a place. they have great drinks, great food menu, they have extended hours of happy hour, lunch specials and you can watch any sports game there. Besides, I always enjoyed their amazing customer service which is so hard to find in Miami.
Since the opening, our relationship had its ups and downs but as in any marriage love is strong and prevails.
So guess my excitement when I learned they are introducing Sunday brunch!

Bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Mary
Avocado Toast can be ordered with or without egg

So here I was, opening the door and letting refreshing waves of cold air-conditioned air to invite me inside. And so my Sunday fun day began.

The first thing I saw in a menu is $15 unlimited mimosas or Bloody Mary, or beer (we already established that I don’t care much about beer so will not be the point here).

Machaca con Huevo

Next thing I learn is that I don’t have to stick to only one type of drink, you know how many places if you order Bloody Mary you have to stick to it… I mean yes, I partied last night and nothing better than a mildly spicy Bloody Mary to begin the day even maybe 2 but I can’t be drinking Bloody Mary with french toast or pancakes… that calls for mimosa right? so music to my ears, you can mix and match any drink you can even start with a Bloody Mary and finish with beer (I would not recommend that is you want to be able to walk after your brunch but it is up to you)

Another surprise was the menu. What are you craving for? They have it! Want some Mexican? Have it, want something healthy, also have it, burger? Stake’n eggs? Fried chicken? There is something for every taste.

So we began with an avocado toast. You can order it with an egg on top or simple. Do you know what is most important for a delicious avocado toast? The toast and the avocado mix can make it or break it and oh my!!! This toast was absolutely delicious. The bread (I have no idea where they get it from it is so tasty) and the avocado was seasoned to perfection

Loco Moco
Quinoa bowl and French Toast

Following that, we had to go for Mexican because it is almost internationally declared comfort food. So we got MACHACA con HUEVOS. So tasty!!! The egg is scrambled with shredded beef and cooked to perfection. And beans, they can be pretty bland but not in Yard House!
Chef Jeff came to say hello and talk a little about food and we were glad to be able to express to him all our enjoyment.

There was another dish that we really wanted to taste called LOCO MOCO. in Spanish doesn’t sound very attractive but OMG. that dish is so complete it is like a burger, but breakfast, but a lunch, but, but it is a perfect brunch item! It comes with a juicy burger patty topped with fried onions and an egg and covered with a portobello sauce with real portobello in it.

Quinoa Bowl

After that, we were ready for dessert. So we chose one healthy and one not healthy dish.
Bread pudding french toast and the quinoa bowl.
Let me begin with the toast. It really took me back to my early childhood years. when my grandma used to make a french toast. And honestly most of the french toast that I have tried around are similar in taste but kinda on a drier side for me. well, this one is the ultimate art of chefs creation. because it is deep fried it makes it hard on the outside. so you take the piece with your hand, dip it in the sauce and bite…… and this is when it just melts in your mouth. you will be amazed by the taste as it is not overpoweringly sweet.

And for the last, we had a quinoa bowl. I know, usually, quinoa bowls are not associated with desert but here is a different story. Your quinoa comes mixed into thick creamy Greek yogurt. Topped with fresh fruits, honey and a scoop of peanut butter. Yes, that scoop was a surprise, I am not a big fan of peanut butter but adding it to a spoon of my quinoa yogurt created an explosion of flavors in my mouth.

And I forgot to say that my glass was never empty. So since my visit, I have been thinking about what would I order on my next visit. Because let’s be honest… a human cannot eat this amount every week… and I still don’t know because just when I am positive and sure I will be ordering an avocado toast because it is healthy and light I remember the quinoa bowl and it goes into a debate again. It is hard to decide only for one dish so my suggestion goes with a family or friends and order it all and taste and share. and you will see me there very often on Sundays now.
