Weekend escape from Miami to Orlando

If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw in my stories that I started acting classes at New York Film Academy. I talk about it there and, if you want to know more just let me know.

As 5 weeks went into my first semester (with classes being every day and till late hours) I started feeling the need for a restful weekend. Staying home watching tv was not an option, I needed to break the routine and see something new. This is when Wyndham Orlando Resort saved me.

I’ve been to Disney parks (as you noticed from my posts) a lot but I never been to Orlando. I never took the time to explore what is there besides Disney or Universal.

And so came my weekend, we jumped into the car right after a class on Friday and drove to Orlando.

A couple of minutes’ drive from Universal Studios and Volcano Bay. 15 minutes from Disney Springs, about 10 mins to the outlets, this location is absolutely perfect.

The night was stormy (it is Florida and we get tropical storms once in a while) but Wyndham received us with a bright and cheerful lobby and the smell of fresh coffee…mmm…yes!

When we finally got to our room I opted for filming a video, so you could get that feeling of relaxation that I got when I first got into the room. And oh was that night restful!!!

When we woke up in the morning, heavy rain was still coming down. But there is a breakfast served every day at the Gatorville restaurant. And can the rain stop me from going to a buffet breakfast?

Not me!

Served at the Gatorville restaurant it had everything I was craving: tasty smoothie, fresh fruit, granola, pancakes, hot potatoes, sausage, waffles, omelets and more. Should I say we spend some time there sipping freshly brewed coffee while waiting on the rain to pass.

After breakfast my husband and I planned to go to the Icon Park after the rain stopped. In the meantime, we had fun watching the ducks having playing in the rain, getting into the pool, etc.

Icon Park is located next door, you can walk there. It is not big, not like Disney or Universal.  But there is SO much to do there! I mean the arcades, restaurants, Ripley’s Believe it Or Not, Madame Tussot Museum and Skeleton Museum. There are also lots of the restaurants, bars with live bands, and a cool little train that takes you around the property, and of course the king of the park, the Iconic Wheel. The ride on the wheel  takes 20 min and on a good day, you can see everywhere, including downtown Orlando. In the mood for some alcohol? You can get your pick of Wine or Margarita before boarding and enjoy the ride!

At night, the wheel becomes alive with bright neon lights that illuminate the sky! Very cool!

The Wheel and Park is, as us Bloggers and Instagramers say:

A very Instagramable Spot!

After a quality time in the park we returned to the hotel for some down time.

Wyndham offers 2 pools, one of them is very conveniently called a “quiet pool” and that’s where we chilled and took a nap, following with some tasty cocktails, from the Gatorville restaurant and bar which is located right in front of the pool.

I absolutely loved the relaxing vibe of the resort with several lagoons and bridges, and its famous ducks wandering around.

If you want more bars and restaurants, you don’t even have to get your car! Everything is right here! But as ( if stormy weather was not enough) were feeling with a little bit of cold coming on us, we decided to stay and try Gatorville for dinner and it didn’t disappoint.

And yes, you probably assumed it already, we had an amazing time and I got to my classes with a newly upgraded energy level!

So,  if you are planning to visit Disney parks or Universal or just coming to Orlando for business, I totally recommend you to check out and consider Wyndham for your stay. It checks all the boxes: Affordability, Cleanliness, Relaxing property, Restaurant, Bar, Pool, Location and oh, lets not forget those cute ducks!
