Rose Brunch – Habitat at 1Hotel

Since its beginnings, 1Hotel positioned itself as a pioneer in sustainability and organic living. The Hotel became an example for its successful use of reclaimed woods and non-harmful materials in its design. As the design extends to its restaurants, it was no surprise to see why Chef Jose Mendin chose to bring his new restaurant here. (check interview in the video below)

So here you have a bit of history and now let me describe what you should expect from coming to a brunch here.

First: Rose!

Oh yes, that alone would be enough to lure me into that brunch and make me spend a hot Sunday afternoon in this wonderful wooden canopied garden with farmer style tables.

But let’s get back to rose!

It is a Rose Themed brunch so expect a lot of Rose, Froze, Rose infused deserts and much more.

Second:

It is an all you can eat (which I looove, as you really can try everything without worrying about the final bill) and when I say all, there is so much to taste!

It  starts with a fish bar where you will find all different types of dishes: ceviches, sushi, fresh oysters, smoked fish and more.

For my meat lovers, there is plenty to choose from on a carving station.

Following the flow of the hall  you  transition to the “fire” station. Here you will find everything roasted and it is displayed over smoking hot wooden coils which keeps it warm while infuses smokiness into the food.

Of course, you can’t skip on the Omelet station. If you are one of those (like my husband, who orders his omelet with everything) think twice, the ingredients bar is huge! but if you want to go for it, let me know later in comments how was it.

All the food is displayed in an elegant indoor dining area, if you are not used to Miami heat you probably will enjoy more the indoor space, and it also will get you closer to the serving stations. Not a bad idea!

what to wear

For traditionalists, there are pancakes and waffles, and of course fried chicken. You can’t miss that chicken, So juicy! One of my Pescatarian friends actually broke her diet and went for a bite on that chicken and then repeated it. Now she is a pescatarian with occasional chicken craving – oh those chicken cravings!

Third:

While you navigate in between food stations you will be feeling a strange gravitational force pulling you towards a huge barn style table located in the middle of everything.

Try to resist (nobody was able to) because it is a dessert table and it is filled with approximately 20-30 different types of desserts. Some of them are limited so if you are a sweet tooth go for it while you see it because, in addition to being extremely tasty, they are filled with creativity and feel like magic in the mouth. This truly shows high levels of craftsmanship from the chef.

You will not notice time passing by while having a conversation with friends and family, listening to carefully curated tunes from local DJ, accompanied by a rose and delicious food, this is what Sundays in Miami are all about.

Once you finish and the sun is not as hot you will be ready to head to the beach,  right behind the hotel, or you can chill on one of the soft sofas in the hotel lobby, which, by the way, has won awards for its design as well!

Tip: check for extra events happening in the hotel, there is always something going on.

While Brunch is served every Sunday, the special Rose brunch is served only once a month.

Habitat is located 2395 Collins Ave Miami Beach, FL 33139  (305) 604-6700
